Agatha Christie’s “Mousetrap” is sixty years old this year and to celebrate her estate has licensed a small number of productions world wide to mark this great theatrical milestone birthday.
One of the first and surely the most innovative and pleasing will be Newcastle’s Theatre Royal run starting on the 11th of February until February 16th.
A murder mystery in the grand tradition with its famous twist ending which all audiences are sworn to secrecy about.
The play is based on a real life case of the death of a boy in foster care in 1945.
It first opened at The Ambassadors Theatre in 1952 starring Richard Attenborough and his fellow film-star and beloved wife Sheila Sim and played there for 21 years before moving to the adjacent St Martin’s Theatre in 1973 without missing a single performance.
All-star casting will be announced in due course.
This evergreen mystery is sure to delight on these dark February evenings.
