As we head into a brand New Year you may be interested in settling in to a touch of fantasy to kick start it with a lawnmower man.
Based on a story by the master of the fantastic and mystery Stephen King and starring a pre-James Bond Pierce Brosnan and Jeff Fahey, this is a welcome release of this fantasy family movie.
Brosnan plays a scientist with a secret government agency which is engaged in a series of experiments mixing drugs to mind expand and make real the feelings and thoughts of he human guinea pigs taking part in the programme.
Those feelings and thoughts appear real as a virtual reality which exists parallel to real life occurring at the same time.
Underlying this is the question…… is there indeed a parallel universe?.
Quantum physics theory suggests that there is indeed a parallel universe.
This movie poses the dilemma of what might happen were these two realities to collide.
The film is a bit of whimsy which poses some interesting dilemmas as to how humans can change their fates and how can we tell what we see and feel is indeed real.
The DVD is great to watch and is something now of a period piece in cinema special effects.
This is a timely re -release in that it bears comparison with the film ‘TRON’ which is on the show business radar with its sequel having just been released.
Mr Brosnan is the world’s coolest Irishman and is always good value.
This is a bit of fun to park the young ones in front of the telly over our festivities while the adults sleep off lunch or tackle the washing up.
There is a bonus disc….. Lawnmowerman 2, stylish if a bit silly.
