Strange but true….they say that the measure of success can be defined if people can recognise the artist by their first name.
Example in pop music would probably relate to Elvis, Cliff, Cilla, Elton, and in country Kenny, Dolly, Reba, Merle, George and of course Johnny.
Of them all, and with due respect to the others the most recognizable would be Johnny.
There will never ever be another Johnny Cash.
That said however there have been many impressions of the man and his music with perhaps the most well known being Roger Dean.
For the past eight years this former actor, singer and cruise director has entertained the length and breadth of Britain with The Johnny Cash Story ably backed by his band The Lazy Boys.
His first appearance and leaning towards an appreciation for The Man In Black came at the age of fourteen when he appeared on BBC TV singing Cash’s Tennessee Flat Top Box.
If you want to hear songs from the beginning of a legends life through to his demise then The Johnny Cash Story stage show plays Sunderland Empire on Saturday June 16th.
Classics like ‘I Walk The Line’,'Get Rhythm’, ‘Folsom Prison Blues’, ‘Ring Of Fire’,'A Boy Named Sue’,'Hurt’, and many more will feature throughout the celebration of Cash’s life.
Treat yourself to a night of country nostalgia.
