If you’re a member of our American Connection Facebook page you could be the lucky recipient of a couple of albums as I make the monthly draw on today’s show.
There’s the usual look into the ups and downs of the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and I’ll be playing the top three best selling singles in Nashville today.
There’s a few requests on the show and I’ll be taking a look at which country acts are celebrating their birthday this week.
Our Album Of The Week features Mary Chapin Carpenter’s new release which is available here in Britain next week and our Made In Britain spot features Callaghan.
The Take You Back Track Number One, takes us back to 1977 with a country legend who had never had a top placing for five years.
All that and tracks from Dolly Parton, The Courtyard Hounds, Josh Turner, Lyle Lovett, Shawna Russell and a host more and you’ll realise there’s a good reason to join me, even if it’s just to unwind after all the Jubilee celebrations.
I’ll talk to you then.
Cheers for now

Hi Brian
Didn’t think there was a show last week. It’s not hosted with the other programmes on the American Connection page?
Callaghan – Thanks for making her your Made In Britain feature.
Good to hear Shawna Russell.
Mary Chapin Carpenter – Think she had a 4 STAR review in Country Music People. I tend to agree with you that the album is too low-key and need a lift. She doesn’t know how to make a bad track and always lyrically excellent. The Radio 2 playlisted duet with James Taylor probably the best and one other track worth a download. Other songs are somewhat templates of her other mood songs.
Band Perry – 2 of the Irish dates you mentioned have been cancelled. Due to delays finishing their new album, the band will be unable to meet their July touring commitments. This affects those with tickets to see them in Empire Music Hall on July 4th. That date is now cancelled and a new date in Mandela Hall on 14th November 2012 will take its place. The July 3rd Vicar Street is now cancelled but the band now hope to get back to Dublin another time.
Will Banister – New date , playing in Basildon, Essex on 19th September, 2012 at The Towngate Theatre, Basildon, Essex SS14 1DL
