Thank you for taking the time to check out “Talking Country”.
Over my thirty odd years of broadcasting country music in the North East of England I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing and recording many of the country greats, including artists who were entertaining us in the sixties, seventies and eighties and …and some before that.
Sadly some may have passed on but at least we still have the legacy of their music.
For many years these interviews were lost either in the annals of time, defunct filing systems or thrown out to make space for other audio items…however recently whilst having a complete clear out of ‘unwanted items’ I came across various reels to reel tapes and cassettes in a poor state of repair due to age and dampness.
Some of them contained many of these ‘lost’ interviews.
We are now restoring them the best we can to their former glory and over the next few months we’ll be remastering them to make complete stand alone ‘Talking Country’ shows.
Featured artists will include Tammy Wynette, Bobby Bare, Ed Bruce, Glen Campbell, Gene Watson, Billie Jo Spears, Lacy J Dalton, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and a whole host more.
We’re kicking the series away with a legend who would have been 79 on February 26th…that’s Johnny Cash, and as you can imagine it’s one of my most memorable interviews as I was the only one allowed to talk to him when he played a one off date in the North East of England at South Shields on September 1st 1987…..and…..there’s going to be many more to follow.
If you’d like a trip down memory lane with some of your favourite country artists from the past join me and some great nostalgic country legends…and take a listen to us ‘Talking Country’.
