On todays show I’ll be telling you of a big surprise that came my way during the week.
I’ll be featuring three tracks from a great new album from Mary Chapin Carpenter in our Album Of The week slot.
As usual I’ll be taking a look at the ups and downs of the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and in our On This Day feature I’ll be mentioning Richard Nixon, the Lochness Monster, Jerry Lee Lewis and what was strange about Shropshire and ET.
There’s also a reminder as to how you can win a couple of albums which in total amount to 58 tracks of great music…a double CD from Jim Reeves and the motion picture soundtrack to Crazy Heart.
There’s also an update of artists either coming to our area or coming into the UK.
I’ll perhaps also be introducing you to a couple of artists you may not have heard before..like Carrie Hasler, Savannah Jack and Bombshel, and there’s an eclectic mix of artists that you will know like Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt,The Bellamy Brothers, Gordon Light foot and many more including Jerry Reed
Hopefully you can be part of the show
Cheers

Andy,
I hadn’t realised that our competition winner Mike Cole was your brother, it was good to meet up with him all the way from Filey in North Yorks, I’m glad he enjoyed the show. Strangely enough I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting or know Keith Greentree of BBC Radio Norfolk…but how kind of him to give me a mention.
Forgot to say that Keith Greentree on BBC Radio Norfolk ( Rodeo Norfolk ) on Saturday made a point of reading out and acknowledged your CMA Presenters Award. I get the idea you have crossed paths along the way?
Hi Brian
Nice to hear you share your reaction with the listeners to the prestious CMA International Broadcaster Award you received , the pinnacle of your Country Radio broadcasting career.
I’m pleased you met by brother and his wife at The Gretchen Peters Sage gig they enjoyed their competition prize and said it was an excellent show.
Loved the Mary Chapin Carpenter tracks , thanks for featuring it. Carrie Hassler I’d heard the name but could not associate any music. There is a review in Maverick Magazine from 2007 I need to go back to and read. Liked the track you played.
You forget how good Trisha Yearwood’s version of ‘How Do I Live’ was when you haven’t heard it for ages.
