This CD is a re-release of well received Lost Highway debut album from singer songwriter Ryan Bingham.
The man with T Bone Burnett who created the soundtrack for Oscar winning Jeff Bridges’ movie “Crazy Heart”, he co-wrote the award winning song “The Weary Kind”.
On the back of that Bingham was named by the “Americana Music Association’s’ artist of the year in 2010.
The seeds of that acclaim are much in evidence in this confident and well played album of self composed songs.
A mix of Dylan, Steve Earle and John Hiatt, Bingham is his own man with his own style particularly on stand out songs such as ‘Ghost of Travellin’ Jones’ and the majestic ‘Southside of Heaven’.
What I like about the songs is their pace and the confidence to give them arrangements and time to breathe.
A story teller with an authenticity his sentiments shine with truth and experience.
A great singer with a wide range ably demonstrated on ‘Dollar a Day’ and the lovely ‘Ever Wonder Why’?.
Ryan Bingham is a talent to watch and on this windfall I’m off to the record store to buy all of his albums.
