Over the years it seems the female country artist fraternity have taken on names of affection relating to their status.
Tammy Wynette was known as ‘The First Lady Of Country Music’, Loretta Lynn as the ‘Coalminers Daughter’, Dolly Parton as ‘The Queen Of Country Music, and the list goes on.
What may have escaped your attention however maybe the fact that Martina McBride has affectionately been called ‘The Celine Dion of Country Music’ due to her soprano vocal range and big voiced ballads.
As one of the most spectacular voices in any genre of music Martina has set the pace with many of her contemporaries by having more than eighteen million album sales and twenty four top ten singles.
Six of those singles took on the number one slot in the charts, perhaps the most famous becoming a womans’ anthem in ‘Independence Day’ written by Gretchen Peters.
In her latest offering entitled ‘Eleven’ Martina not only proves her vocal credibility once again but reveals a new side to her personality.
She says “This is such an amazing time in my life and mt career, I feel like I’ve been given the support and power to go into the studio and write and create an album that pushes the boundaries of what people expect of me, while still being true to myself”.
From the opening strains of track one ‘One Night’ through the catchy ‘Always Gonna Be This Way’ to the gentle final ‘Long Distance Lullaby’ it is sheer class personified.
Beautifully produced, outstanding vocals, and great musicianship throughout you will be in no doubt why this lady takes on her Celine Dion personna.
This release will garner her many more number ones, it’s an album for anyone who likes great music.
On reflection perhaps it’s Celine Dion who takes on the Martina McBride mantel.
