There cannot be many more people amazed than the members of the American Lonestar band when their recording of ‘Amazed’ entered into the British pop charts in 2000 at Number 21.
It was taken from the bands fifth release entitled ‘Lonely Grill’ and in the States it climbed to the Number One spot. It was also the first album not to feature bassplayer and second lead vocalist with the band John Rich as he had left the band in 1998 to team up with Big Kenny (William Kenneth Alpin) and form the duo team Big and Rich.
Major success followed with their first studio album ‘Horse Of A Different Colour’ which was released in 2004 which also included contributions from other artists including Gretchen Wilson,Cowboy Troy and Martina Mcbride. After their third album release the duo went on hiatus with Rich releasing a solo single last year followed up by a new album release this month.
The album entitled ‘Son Of A Preacher Man’ is now available on the Humphead record label and includes the singles ‘Another You’ and Shuttin’ Detroit Down’ which has already given him a Number twelve chart position on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. Albeit that it seems some of the tracks relate to John Rich being on his prophetic soapbox in relation to personal views on politics, religion and greed in Middle America it is non the less a great listen with some great modern contemporary songs.
From the opening track through to the final cut it holds an across the board mix of light and shade from hard driving beats, to romantic love songs complete with an eclectic mix of musical changes. In the heavier driving beats it’s impossible to keep your feet still.
If you like contemporary country it’s a great one for you to add to your collection
