George the Third as well as losing America gave the Theatre Royal its charter and February marks the Queen of Grey Street’s 175th birthday.
What was lost with America we gained here in the North East with perhaps the best theatre in the country.
To mark this milestone and to celebrate the old girls make over they are throwing a party!
On Sunday 19th February stars of theatre and television are lined up for a Gala hosted by husband and wife team Tim Healy and Denise Welch.
Theatre panto stars Clive Webb,Danny Adams,and Chris Hayward will be appearing along with a special appearance of one of the young stars of Billy Elliot.
There will also be performances from Matthew Bournes New Adventures, Allan Stewart sings Jolson songs and Daniel Koek appears with cast members of Chess.
Christopher Biggins, The Krankies and Graeme Danby will also be adding to this special feast of entertainment.
All of the first class acts appearing have either performed or have had a long association with this jewel in the North East’s cultural crown.
As a special treat free birthday cake will be served!
With all profits going to the Evening Chronicles Sunshine Fund and Metro Radio’s Cash for Kids it promises to be a great evening of fun and nostalgia.
