In the States ‘diesel therapy’ is a form of punishment in which American prisoners are shackled and then transported for days or weeks.
In the North East of England Diesel Therapy are a four piece band which give pleasure rather than punishment and an outfit you could listen to for days and weeks.
Comprising of Jim Hornsby, Danny Holmes, Chris Ringer and Duncan Tyler, collectively they has just released their new album entitled ‘The Saltwell Road’ on the Root and Fifth Record label.
All songs and instrumentals, of which there are six of each have been written and co-written by Danny and Jimmy.
The result is a journey through thoughts and observations of life, many locally based, complimented by brilliant musicianship throughout.
Light and shade is forefront throughout the whole twelve tracks with touch and feel of each instrument honed to perfection.
Jimmy’s laid back vocal and presentational style is although similar to Knopfler in delivery, never copied. This adds to the flow of some great songs.
As individuals the band members are in demand as session musicians which often curtails their work as a team, however after listening to their new offering it proves that such great talent when brought together can easily gel as one.
It very rarely occurs that superlatives are hard to find to describe musicianship, vocal attributes and production however ‘sheer eclectic musical magic’ springs to mind on this occasion.
It’s an album that the team need to be proud of and that you will be if you add it to your collection.
Once again the North East proves it has the finest.
The album can be purchased from the band at their gigs or log on to their website for more information www.dieseltherapy.co.uk
