Dierks Bentley has come a long way since he released his first self titled album in 2003.
During that time he has charted seven number one singles and produced the same number of albums the last of which is released here in Britain next Monday (Feb 20th).
His last album entitled ‘Up On The Ridge’ took on a bluegrass and roots theme which gained him more praise and credibility in both country and roots circles, and by many of his peers.
This new offering entitled ‘Home’, available on the Humphead record label to my mind is his best to date.
Having taken on various musical stylings over the years it seems his comfortability is within the twelve tracks offered on this release.
Many of the themes and subjects he has explored in previous offerings come to fruition across the whole album taking in country verities which include life on the road, love, friendship, family and country appreciation and the classic… hell raising.
Also included on a track called ‘When You Come Around’ are the sultry duetting tones of Karen Fairchild from Little Big Town.
It’s good value for money as it contains twelve tracks rather than the normal ten and on the final track you can hear Dierk’s three year old daughter Evie on vocals singing about how much she misses her father when he’s away on tour on a song called ‘Thinking Of You’.
Schmultzy perhaps, but quite unique and perhaps that is the strengths of the album.
He has already had a number one chart success with one of the tracks released as a single (‘Am I The Only One’) and no doubt there are more to follow from this release.
It’s a brilliant offering.
