In the world of ever changing technology we are inundated with almost every piece of electric viewing or listening devices with a remote control.
The problem (apart from who controls the remote…or where it is) seems to be that we all end up with far too many.
One For All (http://www.oneforall.co.uk) have come up with a unique solution in the shape of a remote that operates your TV and your set top box all in one that is guaranteed to work with all makes.
Sometimes setting up these devices is a complete pain (as you need instructions as to how to read the instructions) not so with the new One For All URC-6420 model.
It is already programmed for the top ten leading TV and set top box brands and basically all you have to do is hold down a digit key that relates to your brand on either which is clearly itemised in the instruction leaflet and it’s all sorted.
Even if your brand is not on the top ten list you press an auto search button and the device will scan until if finds your particular brand.
It features volume buttons, power on and off, channels selections, pause, channel information button and the familiar Red, Green, Yellow and Blue buttons into which you can copy functions from your existing remote.
It has a sleek styling, is most comfortable to hold and has a limited number of large keys.
It operates by inserting two AAA batteries and the only complication I found was removing the back to insert them as the fit is quite tight. (It is best to push down the cover and slide towards you for access).
It is not a replacement for a Sky Plus HD remote as it does not have a record programme facility.
If you’re wanting to eliminate a household full of remotes then it is an absolute blessing that also works adequately with Satellite, Freeview, Cable and DVB-T box and all makes of TV’s.
Priced at £14.99 it is not out of pocket expenditure and is available at Argos Stores and online at www.argos.co.uk.
