This new DVD presented and walked by Julia Bradbury gives inspiration to admire and appreciate what is around us all, everywhere.
The poet W.H.Auden once remarked “You cannot eat a view but its presence can feed the soul and lift the spirits”.
Desk bound on a dull day, the kids playing up one’s desire is to be free walking in lovely countryside at one with the world.
So say I and so say many, I suspect.
How else does one explain the popularity of the shows fronted by Julia Bradbury?
Julia made her name with the BBC’s Country file and later with her enchanting Wainwright’s Walks and Railway Walks.
With the same format of interviews with local historians and characters Julia strolls about viewing the ‘flaura’ and chatting to the ‘fauna’.
Divided into sections examining Worcester, Birmingham and Avon Canals, we are taken to some of Britain’s hidden countryside jewels.
Beautifully filmed and charmingly presented this is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.
A guilty pleasure of a DVD. It will wet your appetite to walk these canals as well!
Extras include a nice selection of photographs.
There is also a book for the more dedicated walkers.
Initially produced by the BBC this DVD is now available from any good store.
