Then of course it seemed the superstar status was a few dreams away.
Now after eight studio albums, two compilations, twenty eight singles, nineteen number one records and a multitude of International accolades and awards it would be hard to decry the ‘superstar’ status.
From his first release in 1999 Paisley has channeled a place for himself in country music history ,not only as a great modern contemporary artist, singer and songwriter but also as a brilliant instrumentalist.
His last release here in Britain entitled ‘This Is Country Music’ shows off all of these atrributes .
The title track of the album initially released as a free download on his site went to the number two position in the charts and the second single taken from the album called ‘Old Alabama’ (also featured the Alabama band) has for the last two weeks occupied the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Charts.
As yet I have yet to hear an album from Paisley that could be criticised, and this release is no exception.
Brilliant instrumentation throughout, great choice of material, sung and played to perfection with a great overall production .
Guests making a special appearance include Carrie Underwood, Alabama, Clint Eastwood, Blake Shelton, Marty Stuart, Carl Jackson and Sheryl Crow.
He returns to Britain next month for a four date tour appearing at the following venues August 17th – London, o2 Arena, August 19th – Dublin, Olympia Theatre, August 20th – V Festival, Chelmsford, and finally August 21st V Festival Staffordshire.
If you’re a musician, especially a guitarist this album could make you want to burn your guitar, either that or save up for extra finger transplants.
I’ll be playing three tracks from the album on this Saturday’s American Connection on www.euvue.co.uk if you’d like a preview.
