On todays show our Album of the Week comes from Luke Bryan.
Not only does he take up the Album of the Week but he’s also bouncing up the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart with one of the tracks I’ll be featuring.

As usual there’s a look at the rise and fall of artists in the Billboard Charts and our Remember this track takes us back to a Buddy Holly song.

Certainly agree with your comment on Mickey Gilley. Hollys song gave him a number one in 1980 albeit Buddy Holly had recorded it, it wasn’t released until after his death 1959 without it being the success that Gilley gave it..twenty one years later……..strange old world the music business eh?

Have to confess I didn’t give the promotion athought plus the fact there’s so many that would have fit including kathy Mattea’s “Walkin Away A Winner’, Bobby Bare’s ‘The Winner’ or even from Sunderland fans, Shania’s “That Don’t Impress Me Much’!!.With regard to Lady Antebellum,I think they’re a breath of fresh air and deserving of the success.

Hi Brian , Good start to the show with Shania. Rumours last week that she was recording a new single. Thpought you might of picked UP! with Newcastle getting promotion. Shania is mentoring on American Idol this week. Suzy Bogguss ‘Night Riders Lament’ – When I first saw her in 1997 on the Give Me Some Wheels Tour and she performed this it made for an unforgetagble moment.
Haven’t heard John Berry’s music for ages, special for you seeing him in Nashville.
What has happened to Chalee Tennison ? So many artists seem to disappear in the Nashville ozone.
It was great Miranda Lambert won 2 awards at the the ACM’s with Fenmale Vocalist and Album Of The Year. Loved the track you choose.
Lady Antebellum won 3 ACM’s and ‘Need You Now’ was certified double platinum last week for sales of 2 million units, while the title track was simultaneously certified triple platinum! What sometimes can be a difficult second album for artists has been a HUGE success for them in such a short time. Hillary Scott was inherited her mums good looks in Linda Davis.
